President - Archbishop Diarmuid Martin

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin is President of Our Lady’s Choral Society since 2004 when he became Roman Catholic Archbishop of Dublin. Archbishop Martin held many appointments in Rome in the service of the Holy See from 1975 until 2001 when he moved to Geneva. There as Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Martin was Permanent Observer of the Holy See at the United Nations Office and Specialised Agencies and at the World Trade Organisation. Since his return to Dublin as Co-Adjutor Archbishop of Dublin in 2003 he has played a significant role as a leading member of the Irish Hierarchy, as a contributor to discussion on Irish public affairs and he contributes to the work of the Church at a European and global level by his membership of several important committees.

Archbishop Martin was instrumental in Our Lady’s Choral Society’s invitation to sing for Pope Benedict on the occasion of the celebrations that marked the anniversary of the Vatican City State.

He is continually generously supportive of the choir which is particularly evident in the accommodation of rehearsals at Holy Cross College Clonliffe.
